Main Characteristics
The Aleshenkin variety is a table grape variety of a very early ripening period, bred by the staff of the Orenburg Experimental Station of Horticulture and Viticulture. The duration of the growing season under the conditions of the Orenburg region is 115 days with a sum of active temperatures of 2200…2400 °C. Bud burst of mother bushes occurs in the first decade of May, the beginning of flowering is recorded in the first decade of June, berry ripening begins in the third decade of July, and full maturity occurs in the third decade of August. The first fruiting of the Aleshenkin grape variety plantations occurs in the third year after planting in a permanent place. The average yield per bush is 7-10 kg. Fresh grapes have a high tasting score of 9.2 points. The commercial quality of the berries is high, while the indicators of shelf life and transportability of the harvest are characterized as medium.
Morphological Description of the Grape Variety Aleshenkin
Morphological features and parameters of vegetative and generative organs have the following characteristics:
- Mother bush: characterized by medium vigor; the mature vine has a length of 2.0-2.2 meters and acquires a light brown color when fully ripe. Ripening of shoots is 90%.
- Leaf: medium-sized, rounded, slightly lobed, with a smooth surface. The petiole sinus is open, lyre-shaped. The length of the leaf petiole exceeds the length of the main vein.
- Flower type: hermaphroditic.
- Bunch: medium to large, length varies from 15 to 27 cm, width — from 10 to 20 cm. The shape of the bunch is conical, and the density is medium to high. It is distinguished by an attractive appearance. The bunch weight ranges from 300 to 1500 g.
- Berry: large, length is 15-25 mm, width — 16-20 mm. The shape is predominantly oval, less frequently rounded. The color is white with a distinct yellow sunburn. The skin is very soft. The flesh is fleshy, crisp, with a pleasant harmonious taste. Inside the berry, there are 1-3 medium-sized seeds, which are easily separated from the pulp.
Features of Agricultural Technology
The Aleshenkin variety demonstrates a high rooting rate when propagated by cuttings. The recommended training system for the bushes is a fan-shaped trunkless form. The optimal total load per bush is 50-60 buds. The Aleshenkin grape variety is adapted to adverse growing conditions, possessing high drought resistance and heat tolerance. Winter hardiness indicators of the vine ensure resistance to temperature drops down to -24 °C. Resistance to powdery mildew (oidium) is estimated at 2 points.
