Main Characteristics
The seedless grape variety Ranno bez seme was bred in Bulgaria by breeders Z. Zankov, I. Todorov, and D. Mitev in 1965. The parental pair was obtained by crossing the Bolgar and Perlette forms. In 1990, the Ranno bez seme grape variety was officially recognized by the State Variety Commission (DSK). The variety features an ultra-early ripening period, with the harvest reaching maturity around August 10, which is 40 days ahead of the Sultana variety.
The average weight of the conical, semi-dense cluster is 260 grams, with dimensions of 17x13 cm. The berries are oval, medium to small in size (14x12.5 mm), and have an average weight of 2.18 grams. The percentage breakdown of the berry structure is as follows: pulp — 91.6%, skin — 8.4%. Berries constitute 98% of the total cluster weight. The yellow-green skin is thin and tender. The pulp is buttery with a neutral flavor. Seeds are in a rudimentary state. At consumer maturity, the Ranno bez seme variety accumulates 20% sugars with a titratable juice acidity of 5 g/l.
Viticultural and Agro-technical Features
Plantations are characterized by a medium vigor of vine growth. The yield of the variety stands at 13 tons per hectare. Rootstocks Chasselas 41 B and SO-4 are recommended for cultivation. Mixed pruning is applied when training the vines. The Ranno bez seme grape variety possesses medium resistance to winter frosts.
The berries exhibit easy separation from the pedicel, which significantly facilitates the technological process of clearing raisins. Due to its ultra-early ripening dates, the harvest is suitable for sun-drying directly under the sun or in plastic greenhouses. The Ranno bez seme variety is recommended exclusively for raisin production and industrial processing in the food sector.
